new york, new york

finally i am here.

new york is a city of charm:

after the crazy subway ride, i finally got to see the empire state building.

it turned out that it's as tall as me. (well, i might be two inches shorter as you can see here)

my first celebrity encounter- the Intel Man.

after talking to him, i think i might go to some audition and become the next dough boy.

Not me, but this lucky bunny and "little Ping" :-)

These are part of my birthday gifts to Ping-yi.  She has received the package, so I can post the pics.  For the bunny, I used a mauve velour type fabric for the body and pink wool felt for the heart.  For "little Ping", I asked Maya to draw "auntie Ping-yi" on a piece of muslin with permanent fabric markers, then sewed it to wool felt (thanks to Martha Stewart Kids) and added the beaded ring.  I felted 2 sweaters I got from Scotland 15 years ago (still brand new).  Those sweaters brought back wonderful memories and I hope they make the pieces more special.

Happy birthday, Ping-yi!  Hope you enjoy every moment of your life!

my first softie

Please meet "Miffy" the blue bunny!  (I wanted to give him a different name, but Maya already swiped him from me, and named him after her favorite bunny character) :-)

I made it out of Nolan's sleeper.  It's all cotton and oh so soft!  I especially love his fluffy tummy and long ears.  I don't have a sewing machine, so it's 100% hand sewn. 

This is a surprise to me actually, cause I never fully participated in home-ed classes in school.  Most of the time I needed to rely on friends or my mom to finish the projects.  However, it pains me to part with Maya and Nolan's baby clothes, so making them into softies gives me great comfort.
